New Yorkers Want Mayor Who Feels Pain Rather Than Causes It
“After 12 years with a peevish and pragmatic billionaire running the city, New Yorkers are eager for a mayor with heart. By a clear majority, the city’s voters say empathy is the most important trait in the next mayor, far more important than temperament, management experience, or the ability to recruit new businesses… There is no consensus among voters about whether any of the current candidates have a larger-than-life personality, like that of many previous mayors. Forty-three percent of voters said none of the current candidates had such a personality; 12 percent said Mr. Weiner did, and 11 percent mentioned Ms. Quinn.”
