Three nightmares down, one nightmare to go

A woman with whom I was talking about the election a couple of weeks ago got quiet for a moment and then, as if she had been visited by some powerful realization, declared that, “When Hillary wins it’s going to feel like I finally got my period after worrying about being pregnant.” I cannot offer anything more appropriate to the moment than that, but we should at least stop to acknowledge that today we are further away from another presidential debate then we will be at any point in the next four years. Even if you are someone who does not expect to be alive in 2020 this is still something worth expressing relief, and maybe even victory, over. I’m very proud of you for getting through it.
