"If trees gave off Wi-Fi they'd be everywhere."
“A confession: it’s getting harder for me to read. Though I continue to carve out hours a day for it, it’s getting harder to carve out the corresponding mental space, the energy and concentration to focus on language and stories and ideas. The myriad things beeping, buzzing and flashing all around me have so habituated me that I now check on them when they’re silent to find out why they’re not beeping, buzzing and flashing. The other day, I overheard someone say, ‘If trees gave off Wi-Fi they’d be everywhere. Too bad they only give off oxygen.’ That about sums it up.”
