Beck, "Dreams"

If at a certain point in 1994 you told people — and trust me on this, because I was there — that twenty years hence the guys who did the song “Creep” and the kid who had the hit with “Loser” would still be making records — Important Records, the kind that people felt the need to either dissect layer by layer or rail against to show how populist their taste really was — the response would be “What, those novelty acts?” and probably also, “Please tell me we still aren’t weating the flannel and goatees at least.” It’s funny how things work out. Or maybe it’s not so funny. Either way, new Beck, enjoy or do not as your ideological stance accords.
