If, like me, you are slow to start this Monday morning, trapped in torpor, weighed down by regret and barely bobbing to the surface of a pond of despair, I would like to tell you that things will get better. I would like to tell you that, but we both know it would be a lie, and it’s too early in the week for either of us to fool ourselves with those comforting untruths.
