★★★★ While the water was still on, the stars were still out. Dawn came up smoothly, the colors of the spectrum tinting the haze while blinking airplane lights pierced the violet upriver. Haze stayed with daylight, spreading a painless glare. The breezes were warming ones; all the way into evening the warmth kept gathering. Up Broadway, the sky was turning a gentle pink, while cold blue flashbulbs strobed against a black movie-premiere backdrop. The tap water returned, clogged with rust and smelling of pencil shavings. The children were more than willing to head out into the mild dusk for chicken nuggets.
