★★★★ Full illumination. The morning sun ricocheted back crosstown, throwing shadows eastward, flaring off the headlight reflectors and chrome of parked cars. Water towers showed their rich woodgrain; pedestrians stood heroic against the evening rush-hour sky. Warm shades emerged somehow from the stone of Lincoln Center. Even subway trains underground seemed brighter and faster, though that was obviously not the case. Only the Apple Store, its glass trapped in shadow, looked drab and diminished.
