Piranha Attack!!!
“Since they have no predators, piranhas have started attacking people on the beach.”
— Brazilian environmental official Romildo Mafra, discusses the surge in the local piranha population that led to some 100 swimmers being set upon by the voracious fish and their rows and rows of famously razor-sharp teeth in the state of Piaui. While none of the victims were skeletalized in less than a minute, surprisingly, authorities are taking the protective measure of introducing tilapia into the food chain, in hopes that the piranha will eat them instead of humans. I’m not sure its going to work. They’ve introduced so much tilapia into New York fish markets lately — it’s kind of bland, don’t you think?
