Teenager Wrong To Ride Right Whale, Says Biologist

“Southern right whales are facing an accumulation of threats now. Not only are the whales dealing with fishing gear, plastics, other pollutants and climate change, now they have some silly person jumping on them!”
–Apparently, Sue Rocca, a biologist at the Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society of North America, has not seen Niki Caro’s 2002 film, Whale Rider, or even taken the time to watch the trailer, as I just have. If she had, I think she might have taken a different tone in discussing the teenager who allegedly took a whale out for a spin off of Middleton Beach in Albany, Australia on Friday.
