Rodney Alcala, Our Greatest Evil Murderer-Photographer
Rodney Alcala was shuffled off to death row a few weeks ago in California, for killing five women. (He’d been on a terrible crime spree since 1972, but still managed to pack in a 1978 “Dating Game” appearance.) He also had an extensive photography collection, as any groovy, awful, murderous bachelor would-which has been now wisely released to the public, in the hopes that missing women might be identified from the photographs. And you know what? GAME OVER, Ryan McGinley, Cobrasnake, Terry Richardson, et al. Marianne Boesky or some dealer is no doubt grabbing for the rights this second. (Are there rights to be had? California no longer has a Son of Sam law, so, probably!)
