The mysterious Swedish duo jj is getting in on today’s celebratory mood with the release of “CEO Birthday.” Those of you who were in the proximity of a radio at any point during last spring/summer will probably instantly recognize the track as a hazy, piano-heavy cover of Jeremih’s incessantly catchy “Birthday Sex.” (So earwormy is the original that it popped right into my head when I merely read about the cover while away from the Internet earlier today.) This is in keeping with jj’s tradition of reworking popular songs to suit their own aesthetic interests, which is fine by me because they’re one of the few acts who can actually pull it off.
